There is no room for panic when talking about the meeting of Communist Comrade Xi and International Criminal Pu!
Nixon-Kissinger once played the China card against the USSR with considerable success. But now it is too much of an exaggeration to believe that Comrade Xi is playing the Russian card against the US with the same success.
China does not need a strong Russia.
China needs a weak Russia.
--- A weak Russia means a junior partner in its relations with China.
--- A weak Russia means increasingly cheap energy raw materials for China.
--- A weak Russia means a weak neighbor for China.
--- A weak Russia means a weak confrontational influence of Russia in the relations of the two superpowers USA and China.
--- Comrade Xi realizes that Putin's biological and political days are numbered.
--- Comrade Xi, however, does not know who will come after Putin – whether someone Beria; whether some Khrushchev, Malenkov, Zhukov; whether some Brezhnev, Kosygin, Podgorny; or even some Gorbachev. That is why he has to orientate himself in the situation in order to know who to bet on, so that he can start building the relevant lasting relationships.
--- Comrade Xi continues the strategic line of the "Centennial Marathon", according to which China should by 2049 (the centenary of the proclamation of the People's Republic of China) become not a great power, but THE Great Power. Therefore, it is now important for him that China is the inevitable second, without which strategic decisions on global security cannot be made, but China should not be forced to participate and engage financially and militarily in the implementation of these decisions.
--- Comrade Xi pursues the implementation of a kind of (and either absurd, or perverse) "Monroe" doctrine, expecting no one to challenge his paramount influence in Asia, leaving Europe to the EU and North America to the US. That is why he has no particular stake in the War of rashist Russia against Ukraine. It may help Russia somehow, but symbolically. It is better for China, like the cunning monkey, to climb high on the mountain and from there watch the Euro-Atlantic tiger and the rashist tiger fight in Ukraine and exhaust each other.
In short, Communist Comrade Xi will get everything he wants from this meeting with Criminal Pu – cheap and ever-cheaper energy resources; recognition of independence and courage on the international stage; a not particularly heavy, briefly breath-taking blow to the US's soft underbelly; a definite request for a bipolar world in the next 30-40 years.
And International Criminal Pu will get nothing. Nothing but a pat on the shoulder and a little down; illusion of not being in isolation; kind words and lofty phrases of partnership; a stark reminder that it is too tiny to try to pretend to be a third player in the world's geostrategic and geopolitical configuration. I.e. he will get nothing but from the whole Chinese heart!
