HUMANITY AS SCHRÖDINGER’S CAT

The translation was done by the AI.

I’ve written on Facebook before about a strange, out-of-place, original, and somewhat off-center supporter of ours (from the SDS in Pernik) – Uncle Grisha. He loved me almost like a father.

He constantly spewed out absurd thoughts. For example:
– “The voice of the people – God’s whip!”
– “You’re offering this people freedom and democracy? They’re *afraid* of the first and *hate* the second!”

Whenever we traveled around the district to meet voters on the wrecked socialist roads, only Uncle Grisha drove the car donated by some like-minded friend. I’d sit in the back, trying to read while the car bounced along, and he’d steer the wheel turned toward me. I’d shout: “Uncle Grisha, look ahead! You’ll crash us!” And he’d say: “Don’t worry, the Lord loves you!”

Truth is, Uncle Grisha was convinced I’d never become a politician – and he was right.
Why? Because I couldn’t lie.

“But we’re democrats, new politicians – how can we lie?” I’d ask him.
“Politics is about out-lying the other. The one who lies better is the better politician. When the communists lie, it’s communist lies. When democrats lie, that’s democratic politics!”

I saw many lies in politics.
My first clashes within the SDS came from me saying what I actually thought, not what I was *supposed* to say – even if the latter was a lie.

One Prime Minister forced our representative in Brussels to lie to the Europeans. The man refused – and was forced to resign.

Later, a President asked me to prepare a speech – a credible-sounding lie. I didn’t do it. The one who *did* later became a minister “from the President’s quota.”

An aunt of mine used to say:
– “Lie – for the good of the country, or at least for your own good!”

In short: democrats lie too. And that’s called democratic politics.

The USA, through a President, Secretary of State, Secretary of Defense, and National Security Advisor, lied without remorse that Saddam had WMDs. The end justified the means. The lie justified the goal...

Saddam’s WMDs were like Schrödinger’s cat.
Turned out – there was no cat.

And now?
Iran’s nuclear bomb readiness was again like Schrödinger’s cat.
They opened the lid – and logically saw the cat was dead.
That’s how Schrödinger’s thought experiment ends: the cat is always dead in the end.
And we’ll never know whether it had ever been alive – or not.
It was probably both. Just like the cat.
And what the Iranian nuclear program really was... is now irrelevant.
What matters is what happens next.

We’re not politicians.
So all we can do is pray – each to our God – for mercy and forgiveness.

Because otherwise, humanity itself may end up in Schrödinger’s box.
While someone tries to check whether it’s still alive or not.
